Communication and Child Progress
We believe that strong, open communication between nursery and home is essential to every child’s development, which is why we work closely with families through regular updates, dedicated Key Workers, learning journals, consultations, and our Famly app.
Famly App Updates
The University Nursery uses Famly, a secure app that helps us stay connected with parents and carers. Through Famly, you can access daily updates, view observations of your child’s learning and development, and keep up to date with important nursery information at your fingertips.
Our staff regularly observe children, record learning experiences, and share these updates through the app. This provides a valuable insight into your child’s progress and achievements throughout their nursery journey.
Care Plan Meetings
Every child is assigned a Key Worker who develops a close relationship with both the child and their family. As part of our commitment to supporting each child’s development, parents and carers are invited to attend four Care Plan meetings each year.
These meetings are held by appointment and provide dedicated time to discuss your child’s progress, learning, wellbeing, and next steps with their Key Worker. They are an important opportunity to work together and ensure your child receives the best possible support.
Personal Learning Journals (PLJ)
Every child has a Personal Learning Journal (PLJ), which contains photographs, observations, and examples of work that document their learning and development over time.
Parents and carers are welcome to view their child’s PLJ at any time within the nursery. Children also have access to their journals and are encouraged to take an active interest in their achievements, helping to build confidence and a sense of pride in their learning.
Parent Consultations and Newsletters
We value strong partnerships with parents and carers and believe that open communication is essential to supporting every child’s development. We keep families informed through regular newsletters, emails, parent consultations, and updates via Famly.
The nursery operates an open-door policy, welcoming parents and carers to discuss any questions, concerns, or ideas with our team. By working together, we can provide the best possible experience for every child in our care.
